Sia Siew Mun

Managing Partner

Siew Mun is the firm's founding and Managing Partner. She read law in the University of Kent, at Canterbury, United Kingdom (LLB Law with Accounting). After obtaining the Certificate of Legal Practice, she was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1999. Since then, Siew Mun has been actively and exclusively practising in the fields of civil, corporate and commercial litigation. Her legal submissions in court are known to be methodical, precise, and succinct. Siew Mun leads a growing and dynamic team of litigators with her analytical and strategic thinking and oversees the execution and implementation of the plans. On the client front, she strives to assist the firm's clients make informed-decisions through methodical and strategic scenario planning, based on the clients' objective.

Alvin Oh Seong Yew

Partner

Alvin is a partner who has been in active dispute-resolution practice since 2011. He read law at the University of Hull and was called to the English Bar as a Barrister by the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in 2010. He was then admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2011. Alvin is a keen trial lawyer and is adept at cross-examination of various types of witnesses. He has acted for clients in all manner of civil disputes including claims involving defamation, negligence, nuisance, contractual, fraudulent trading as well as construction, commercial and corporate disputes and has appeared in all levels of Malaysian Courts as well as in arbitration matters. In construction disputes, Alvin has experience in acting for Developers in Court proceedings and arbitrations. He is also actively involved in Malaysian Bar activities and has been a serving committee member of the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee since 2016.

Senior Associate

Sew has been exclusively practising in the field of dispute-resolution since 2018. He graduated from the University of London in 2016 and first interned at the firm in 2016. As a graduate of the Certificate in Legal Practice, Sew was Siew Mun’s Pupil-in-Chambers before being admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2018. After a short stint to pursue his criminal law interests, he rejoined the firm as an associate. Sew has a developing practice in the firm's core practice areas. Sew is meticulous and has an eye for detail when reviewing documents and identifying the relevant issues, making him a vital component of the team.

BANKRUPTCY & INSOLVENCY

We have advised and represented creditors and respondents in various bankruptcy / insolvency petitions including:

  • acting for a creditor in challenging a claim by a bankrupt that certain assets were being held on trust for him such that the said assets were fraudulently placed out of the reach of his creditors;
  • acting for a respondent whose bankruptcy was obtained premised on a debt that was disputed.

  • developer in challenging claims by contractors for extension of time as well as their entitlements to liquidated damages under various forms of construction contracts;
  • a major highway concessionaire in defending a claim that its excavations works have caused the collapse of a bridge where geotechnical expert evidence was involved;
  • prosecuted claims for negligent construction and/or defective design of a bridge;
  • defects on building structures caused by building not in accordance to drawings and specifications;
  • architects against homeowners' claims for purported negligence in the discharge of their duties.
